Princesses put focus on the next generation on World Children’s Day

Princess Madeleine of Sweden marked World Children’s Day on 20 November with a very special visit to a children’s hospital while Princess Sofia also focused on the next generation as she attended a UNICEF panel.

Princess Madeleine has dedicated herself to helping children through several of her patronages and roles. She is currently serving as the Deputy Honorary Chair of Childhood for the United Nations and in late 2021 was made the Vice Honorary Chair of the World Childhood Foundation, an organisation her mother founded in 1999.

The Swedish princess is also the patron of My Special Day, an organisation that arranges experiences and gifts for children who are suffering from serious illnesses. On World Children’s Day, she met several patients at the Astrid Lindgren’s Children’s Hospital.

Princess Sofia, the wife of Prince Carl Philip, also marked World Children’s Day throughout the week.

Sofia took part in a panel and a discussion organised by UNICEF. The panel explored the challenges that school children face with social media and internet safety while the UNICEF discussion was on the latest ‘State on the World’s Children” report.

Princess Madeleine also shared news on her Instagram after attending the World Childhood Foundation’s gala in New York last week. The gala raised $1.5 million dollars that will allow the WCF to develop and implement much needed programming. She said ”Thanks to the incredible generosity of our sponsors, donors and supporters at our gala Childhood can invest in even more innovative solutions and programs to protect children from being sexually abused and exploited.
