King Frederik and Queen of Mary are now officially on their State Visit to Finland but ahead of the formal events, they had time for some off-duty adventures, including making a new friend.
The Danish king and queen spent time with Finnish President Alexander Stubb and his wife, Suzanne Innes. Although State Visits tend to be fairly formal events, the foursome were able to relax and take to the Finnish countryside.
The Danish court shared images of the couples cross-country skiing in Lapland, the northernmost region of Finland.
King Frederik and Queen Mary also shared a new kind of portrait for their reign, a selfie with a reindeer! And not only were they able to get a selfie but they also took a reindeer-pulled sled ride through the countryside.
They then stopped off at a pub for drinks together and were able to enjoy a performance of traditional Finnish music.
The Danish State Visit to Finland will begin formally on March 4 in Helsinki, the Finnish capital. In addition to being officially welcomed by the President, the King and Queen will also meet with the Finnish Prime Minister and visit Parliament before the State Banquet at the Presidential Palace.
On March 5, they will visit Aalto University in Espoo and spend time with the Coastal Brigade in Upinniemi.
