Tymee is a free, easy-to-use delay plugin and the second freebie in the Tritik lineup, alongside the Krush bit crusher.
Despite the impressive-looking spectrogram, Tymee is a straightforward plugin with simple controls. The developer initially created Tymee as a tool for teaching audio programming, and that’s why the spectrogram is there, but it looks cool anyway!

Focusing on simple controls and quality sound is typical of Tritik; Tritik’s lo-fi plugin Flaw is still one of my favorites.
Tymee features a ten-second delay line with a tap tempo function. In addition to the standard Delay and Feedback controls, you get a Degrade (down sampler) function and a Lowpass filter with Resonance control.
The Degrade and filter controls are where you can get some interesting sounds.
As a straightforward delay effect, you add movement and texture or create cascading patterns. However, you can change the timbre entirely when you start playing around with the down sampler and filter settings.
If you use Tymee to create a pumping bassline or even melodic lines, degrade the sound, and then bring in the lowpass filter with some resonance, you get close to that stereotypical acid house sound.
The timing is fitting since we just covered The Crow Hill Company’s Acid Synth, a Roland TR-303-inspired plugin, delivering the sound that created an entire culture.
If you like the sound of Tymee, you might want to check out Tritik’s premium TkDelay plugin, which is currently available for €24 (50% discount). You can try a fully functioning demo before you buy (the audio output mutes occasionally).
Tyme is one of the multiple delay plugins this month that can be yours for free.
In early March, we had Magic Carpet, an experimental delay that delivers everything we’ve come to expect from an Unplugred release.
We more recently covered ORU Audio’s Petrichor, a granular delay for Plugdata, which is free for a limited time. Petrichor is available for free until May 1, 2025, using the code “NEONRAIN”.
Tritik’s Tymee is available in AU, VST, VST3, and AAX formats for macOS (10.15 and higher) and Windows (10 and higher).
